Black and Puerto Rican....Jews?

It hit me as a great surprise that one parent of each of the most famous or powerful "Puerto Rican" and most famous "Black" journalists were Jewish. In the case of Geraldo Rivera, he was raised Jewish (Jewish mother), married a Jew and raised his children Jewish.                        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geraldo_Rivera                                     

            In the case of Elinor Ruth Tatum of Amsterdam News, I don't know if there is any notable relationship with her to Judaism. She seem to be a good black spokesperson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ocx5aDfv4s It seems Tatums mother was Jewish too.

Now that I've read that Elinor Ruth Tatum specialized in the  Swedish Govement  Model, I am particularly interested in meeting her. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elinor_Tatum
